Doldrums

Over the last week or so, the last of the snow cover from January melted off, revealing two months worth of detritus. Between this collection of filth, the grey skies, and the see-sawing of temperatures, I am becoming rather anxious for spring to arrive. Or at least a warm evening/weekend day that will allow me to get out and ride away some of the winter doldrums I feel engrossing me. It will be harder this year as my new city isn't as well equipped with bike paths linking to country roads but I do enjoy the thought of exploring some new places to ride. I am looking forward to trying out some of the super steep climbs on the hills and drumlins south of the city. In the meantime, I am forced to continue my penance on the rollers, who's novelty has worn off. I looked recently in my bike log to see that this time last year I had already about 100 miles in, mostly commuting, but still. Ahh, soon, soon. It'll be a while before the trails are dry enough to ride but I would be happy with a nice long, hilly road ride for now.
